Luxe Photobooth provides a classy, luxurious experience in a marketplace flooded with cheesy, tacky props. Luxe Photobooth entered the photo booth market with the concept that people want beautiful, candid photos of their friends and family... without cringing.
The concept was a simple idea but counter-trend: it's not the stuff. It's the memories.
The easy thing to do was to buy a box full of props and put it out for guests to cover their faces and take photos of themselves laughing at how ridiculous they look. After all, every other company in the industry was doing it.
But I took a different approach because I believed that I wasn't the only one who hated the idea of props.
The challenge was to present the idea that props aren't necessary nor are they even desirable.
Cheesy props = cheesy photos. People want to look good. But for some reason, when there's a photobooth, people think it's okay to wear feather boas and oversized sunglasses. It's not okay, and we let them know it.
So I built a better way. Simply put, instead of putting props on faces, I wrote an idea generator to suggest poses, which adorned people's faces with emotions, deep belly-aching laughter, and genuine expressions.
In a very small way, this concept demonstrates the power of words: that words can move people from ideas into action.
Being a solopreneur requires wearing many different hats. From concept to design and execution to building the site, I utilized and acquired new skills as needed to bring the site to life.
Instead of describing how we got rid of props, we showed them the results of our system. By displaying beautiful photos of people genuinely having a good time, visitors can visually see how much better things look without props.
By prompting questions in the copy, visitors can realize for themselves how tacky props are.
And of course, we must address their objections. In this case, "How the heck do you get people to take fun photos in the photobooth... without props?"
After reading this copy, it's clear that props are not in alignment with our ideal client's values.
Clearly, photos are better without props. Wouldn't you agree?
By focusing on our USP of not having props, we are able to differentiate ourselves in a sea of "me-too" photobooth companies.
As a result, we attract and get to work with clients who LOVE our work and appreciate that we saved them from tacky photos.
